Email Marketing is a great way to reach out to your audience without spending a lot of money.

Those of you who think that email is an “outdated” Marketing channel since there are now modern ways of communication such as Facebook, Twitter, and other social media – think again!

Radicati currently estimates that there are more than 4 billion email users and that number is expected to reach 4.371 billion by 2023.

As a measure of comparison – at the same time Facebook on its official page, tells us that people who use at least some of its services (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Whats-up), reach a total of 2.7 billion users .

Of course – you will use social media but not just that.

If you are a professional or running a business and want to gain more customers and sales, you need to include Email Marketing in your strategy.

But how do you get started?

Here are 3 key pointers-tips in getting started with your Email Marketing strategy.

  • Build your List.

To send an email – you must have a list of email addresses as recipients. Reasonable enough!

You need to be cautious there. You must always send the emails to people who have given you permission to do so (opt-in).

Do not make the mistake of buying ready-made lists.

There is a risk of seriously damaging your company’s reputation to email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc. as a result of which they send all your emails to spam (or even not deliver them at all).

Build your list by asking permission. Here is a smart way you can proceed:

Offer something on your page for free in exchange for the user’s email.

For example, an eshop may offer a discount coupon by requesting an email with permission.

An Insurer can offer a free eBook with Insurance Tips for free e.g. “How to choose the right Health Plan”.

The idea here is to offer something for free – that will bring the visitor one step closer to the solution they are looking for (and was originally found on your page).

Other ideas include a contest or a useful video.

Try it.

  • Sign up for an Email Marketing platform.

By registering on such a platform you have a number of tools and features (not provided by Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.)

For example, to create registration forms for your page, to send automated messages (auto-responder), to see how many opened your emails, how many clicked on a Link, and many other statistics and tools.

All these will help you improve your messaging, your interaction with your audience, and of course, your sales.

Examples of such platforms are Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Get Response, Aweber, Mailerlite, ContactPigeon, Moosend, and others.

If you want to build a serious and strong email marketing strategy, you need to sign up for such a platform.

  • Follow-up. After you receive the Email, then what?

That’s when the Real Marketing begins. The goal here is to make the (unknown) visitor get to know you, find interest in your services and products, and ultimately trust you (Know you, Like you, Trust you).

Only then can he become your customer.

You will achieve this by doing regular follow-ups with a series of emails.

Be careful though. Do not send one offer after another. This will not work.

It’s boring and it will make the members of your list press the “unsubscribe” button (and you do not want that!)

These are the 3 key steps of a Strategy that will help you start or improve your Business Email Marketing.

In any case, do not forget that you are writing for them, not for you!

What you want is to become a useful resource for your audience.

So do not send emails only when you want something. Share solutions and ideas that can help your audience.

Remember, before you ask for something- you have to give first!
